Honestly the 60 FPS patch helps the game BIG TIME
The environments look stunning and the gameplay is pretty solid
Unfortunately almost everything else about the game falls apart
The story and writing are ABYSMAL
The level design is alright but lifts a lot from the original game without really understanding why it worked so well; and on top of that, it doesn’t even feature some of the best levels for the original game
Music is totally forgettable, too. It cannot even hold a candle to the original game’s OST
That said, the game does get a lot better on a second playthrough when you know to skip all the cutscenes and reduce the dialogue volume. The NG+ mode is pretty damn fun and makes multiple playthroughs more than worth it
So yeah, give this game a shot if you have it on PS5, but PLEASE play the original game and the other PS2 games, they’re some of THE BEST platformers of that generation
