Now that it's been cleansed of corporate lootbox scum, it actually has some of the most fun multiplayer I've ever played, and the Star Wars kid I used to be couldn't be any happier. NameBrand.

Honestly, this game has fulfilled some of my wildest Star Wars dreams and then some. Dogfighting in space against Tie Fighters, fighting against the Separatists droid army on Kamino, force choking the masses as Darth Vader... it's insane how good it feels to play. And it LOOKS SHARP. The first time I booted it up, I mean, it looks so impressive that it feels like it's straight out of the films. So well done. So immersive.

The story mode was remarkably okay and is about up to par with where some of the lack-luster Disney stories are at. But I had a good time with it, and it feels like a real proper single player campaign just like you'd find in any other multiplayer shooter. Helped me get my bearings with the controls and gunplay and I took that with me to online.

And I've had boat loads of fun playing online. I know the hacker issue is a thing people are afraid of, but if you can get a party of 4 together, all you have to do is go into the co-op missions and fight hordes and hordes of AI. THAT is way fun. I've had more fun doing that than playing the regular Co-op anyway, and even then, I never had hacking issues in the normal co-op with human players.

And beyond all that, it's a super polished game, the controls are tight and responsive, the gunplay is satisfying and being a hero is thrilling. It's everything you'd hope for.

Since losing the gambling mechanics, I definitely owe this game and the devs an apology. I was right there with the rioting gamers when I saw the mess of micro-transactions polluting this game. But since those have gone the way of the earth, I have had a blast playing. I used to visit the 2005 BF2 when feeling the itch to play. But now... I think I'll return to this one. It's just so good, and I hope that money grubbing EA pumps another one out, because this has been wizard.

(note that my full playtime isn't reflected in Steam... have like 50 hours logged in the Origin client)
