Somehow out of every franchise they own, Guardians of the Galaxy has always oddly had a very solid track record when it comes to great adaptations. From James Gunn's excellent MCU Trilogy, to now Eidos Montreal's AAA 2021 release, the people who work on this franchise seem to know how exactly to always portray these characters while also making them feel Seperate from all the other incarnations of them. The heart and soul of this game is the story which is absolutely fantastic, hilarious, and heartwarming all the way through as is every Guardians story should, but what else would you expect from the same studio who gave us equally excellent stories with the Deus Ex games. Soundtrack is another really important aspect of the game, and the game finds a great selection of songs that invokes exactly what Guardians of the Galaxy is without really repeating any music used in the MCU Trilogy of films, doubly impressive as this game came out before Vol. 3 and yet STILL has no crossover songs. Of course Gameplay is important too, and while not the most revolutionary thing out there, Gameplay is incredibly solid, and while at first it may be disappointing that you ONLY play as Peter Quill with the other Guardians assisting via special ability prompts you choose for them, it still works incredibly well that it doesn't feel tedious at all when you have back to back battles some of the time. This is such a warm welcome and change of pace from Square's piss poor attempt at an Avengers Live Service disaster. I can't recommend Guardians of the Galaxy enough. If you're even the smallest most casual fan of GotG, I can't say enough good things about this game. It's a must play for anyone.
