Last month I started this game for the first time, hoping for a Spyro like the fun I had with the Trilogy. I'm a huge Spyro fan, so I was expecting more fun and realms. First of all, my experience with this game on PS2 was pretty bad. The whole movement of Spyro is feeling like slo-mo, it ruined most of the fun. I had frame drops, I think the game runs at 25 fps on PS2. The first homeworld felt pretty empty, but with a massive amount of gems to collect. In the first realm you come across a real-time flying level where you have to collect a certain amount of items with a time limit. I know, we had the same missions in Spyro 1, 2 and 3 but these weren't mandatory, you could actually skip these. In Enter the Dragonfly you need to collect as much Dragonflies as you can. Before you can enter other realms, you need more Dragonflies so they force you to complete the flying levels. To me, that felt like a grind move same as work. That's where my playthrough actually stopped. The only positive I can tell about this game is the music. For as far as I've played, I heard some nice recognizable songs that sounded like they were produced by Stewart Copeland, with samples they used in the OG Spyro games. But that's about it, I will have a look for Spyro: A Hero's Tail. I've heard they did some great improvements to that game.
