My favorite in the series so far. Fun story, best cast of characters in the series, and fun gameplay.

Characters are probably the best they've ever been, between having monastery conversations, supports, paralogues, and decent presence in the narrative early on all the characters are more fleshed out than in previous games. And the main lords are some of the most interesting the series has to offer.

The plot itself can be a bit rough at times, with several holes and missteps, but is overall a fun ride that will keep you engaged from start to finish.

Gameplay is fun, though with some very big drawbacks. The monastery was a great feature, allowing you to really explore and interact with the world around you and the characters, though it can get a bit tedious due to a lack of major changes and flaws that make it less necessary as the game advances. The maps are also a low point for the game, while visually they arent bad they are a bit too small for their own good, and enemy density is extremely low. creating some otherwise simple maps that arent really difficult to get through.

Difficulty modes are also awkward. Normal and Hard are far too easy, Hard becoming a pushover by the time you are in the timeskip. The hope would be Maddening would provide a meaningful challenge, but it is a swing in the opposite direction that makes the game difficult by relying on too many BS decisions to make it a fun experience.
