When people say they love the combat system, they really mean the final mix content and not the gold coin treasure chest boss.
First 40ish hours are pretty okay, the level design is a huge step down from kh1, gummi ship a huge step up, combat system is "more advanced" but you wont be using most of it for a very long time.
