Capcom Classics Collection Revisits #2
I remember loving the shit out of 1941, far more than any of the predecessor games in the 19XX series. I probably overhyped it at least a little bit, but I had fun with it regardless.
Some really goddamn fine CPS-1 tunes in this game, would be lovely to be able to hear them over the alarm that constantly goes off when you're one hit from death. That craps needs to be outlawed. The sounds in general in this game go hard, explosions are thundering and loud as shit, for sure to go to war with every other cabinet that was putting out their own ruckus. I love the adorable baby planes you can summon to your side.
I wanna say 1941 is an easier game to play, it could probably make for a nice beginner shmup. It's also got a blimp in it, so that's an extra half-star for it. It apparently also started a tradition of adding a single point to your score to keep track of how many continues you used, not sure how true that is, but it's something I found randomly when I looked this game up.
