I've been in a dire need to play more of the Darius games, so naturally I decided to start with probably the worst entry in the series. This will get my ass kicked by at least one person on here, but my nose smells it and begs for it.

Darius Force aka Super Nova really enjoys wasting time, it's almost like it's stalling the player for as long as it can to maximize it's playtime, as if it were a modern AAA title that only values hours spent rather than enjoyment factor. Loading screens for days in a shmup that is less impressive than it's own predecessor on the same system. I'd go easier on this if it weren't for Super Nova's dipshit checkpoint system, I couldn't tell you what was wrong with the perfectly fine respawns from Twin, but apparently someone said "nah, we've got an hourly quota to make for HowLongToBeat" then decided to add the slowest fade outs imaginable to your death.

I really need to say this too, but I never cared for the SNES's more default sound. I always felt like the one man taking on the entire country of Persia with that thought. If you want to know why I have that opinion, take a listen to this. It sounds so pathetic, and the horns going "BWOO BWOO BWOO" do not help at all. I'm sorry, but it's awful. I'll take the fart sounds from Genesis over this, at least that's funny. Get out of here with that limp dicked clown shoes nonsense.

Suffice to say, I hated this game. I despised it's existence on my everdrive. I wish to no longer know it. A good thing they renamed it to "Super Nova" or I would've dropped the Darius series! Thank you for that Taito localization team! I am sorry, but if your shmup manages to make my eyeslids heavy while still throwing cheap enemy patterns designed to blindside me in the ass rather than provide a real challenge then you done goofed! You've gotten relatively close to the Earth Defense/Earth Defend zone on my shit list with this product. Bravo Taito, you made a shmup that's only a half-star away from the same rating as an unlicensed bootleg!!!

Better luck next time! It can only go up from here though! (I hope)

I forgot to mention that the funniest part of this game for me was making my ship explode by inputting the konami code. Taito going "yeah fuck you, you're playing our games buddy."
