While the original game came out in 2010, the porting of the game to the Xenoblade 2 engine with additional epilogue was a pretty big facelift for the game (Plus I only finally played it for myself in 2020). XBC1 is a wonderful adventure with one of the best casts of characters in an RPG, and some really powerful music to back it up. The game also offers a sense of scale with the environments that I’ve only ever really felt from the original God of War trilogy. Areas like Makna Forest and Valak Mountain are not only fun to explore and fight enemies in, but you really do feel how small you are on the titan of Bionis. XBC1 very easily became my favourite MonolithSoft game above Torna and XB2, and I’m very glad I got to play it on my Switch looking as good as it does.
