Absolutely gorgeous game that perfectly captures the essence of old NES/SNES era sidescrollers like Ninja Gaiden. There are quite a few fun abilities that really open up how you approach different scenarios, but sadly I just think it's a little too tiring. Checkpoints are spread very thin, and more often than not I felt a sense of relief when a tough section was over, rather than a sense of accomplishment. Still, a solid title and definitely worth picking up if you love those old games.
