Before joining Backloggd Dot Com, I kept track of games I played using an Excel spreadsheet. Each time I completed a game I would check it off the list, log the date I completed it, and record a letter grade. As I've been going through my Retro Bucket List and retroactively reviewing each game, this Excel document has become invaluable in how it's allowed me to keep an accurate record here. I completed Mega Man X5 on November 12, 2020, and I gave it a D+. The only problem is... I don't remember a damn thing about it.

I've brought this up in nearly every review for a Mega Man game I've written, but I cannot tell these things apart. A little of that is due to Mega Man games being kinda samey, and a lot of it is because I have a habit of marathoning them. However, I usually recall enough to form an opinion I'm comfortable sharing. Not so with Mega Man X5! I literally do not remember any of it, and I've been having to sift through other reviews to try to piece together what I played. There's a lot of tutorials? Ok, that seems about right... a space colony and a time limit? Sounds pretty novel. The stages are designed bad? Uhhh, multiple endings...

I'm over here stripping off articles of clothing in front of the mirror, looking at tattoos that say shit like "Don't trust Duff McWhalen." A 2/5 may be more accurate to what I had logged on my spreadsheet, but because I evidently have the Memento disease, I'm giving this a 2.5/5.
