This is the first blinking type game.

Before Your Eyes is an illusion of choices-matter game that helped me relive the trauma of growing up in a city of rich families that thrust their kids into music and the arts and completely ruined any integrity or charm that the process of creativity holds. Just about every character in this story is insufferable and completely betrays the trust and wishes of the sickly player controlled character. Seriously, all the mother does is be an iredeemable thorn throughout the entire game that thrusts all her wants and wills into Ben Brynn. There's no charm here, it's a problem that ruins the passion and dreams that come with the mental autonomy of growing up. The family and setting of the story is so rich-suburbia that it's not even a mildly realistic family dynamic that you get in most places around the globe. Ben Brynn is surrounded by an alright yet cheesy father, a "friend" who spends the entire game (even when extremely sick) berating him and making fun of him, a one eyed cat, and a mother who doesn't care at all for her son and only wants him to (attempt to) follow in her footsteps of being an elite musician.

I just can't get into the snobby nature of this game that parades around the "wow look at this narrative that is so empowering, live out your dreams!" when it only invokes the opposite. Too many times in Before Your Eyes is the player goaded into picking an option after continuing to ignore it, just to push the narrative despite being offered choices all throughout the experience. This game is a gimmick without a reliable blinking mechanic, I can not recommend it.
