Mechanically, Persona 5 Royal was everything I loved about Persona 4 Golden and more. It does great work to refine the already mature parts of P4G while also introducing new, fleshed out mechanics. Story wise, while it is absolutely fantastic, I feel that it is a step down from P4G in character development and general writing. Overall, no one can go wrong with this titan of a JRPG as a entry point to the series. It's dripping with style and captivating all the way to the end, despite it's flaws.
