The First World War was a horrible and entirely pointless event that unfortunately came to define the world all the way until the present. Valiant Hearts is an admirable endeavor into translating the crude reality of the conflict into a video game for kids, and even worse, mobile phone players. While I do think the idea of making a game to both entertain and teach about a very real event is cool, this game falls flat a lot. The puzzles are pretty boring and extremely easy, and while there is a healthy variety of situations, what you're actually doing repeats a lot. I really do think mobile devices limited this game. Though a cool thing on the switch version is that it can be played entirely with the touchscreen in portable mode, but it obviously has button inputs too. The story was okay, though I would have liked to see the characters interact more with each other, as it is it was hard for me to really believe in how strong their bonds and shit were. Graphics were a highlight for me, the game has a very nice looking comic book art style, and it portrays the war in a very gruesome and interesting manner full of detail. Music was pretty appropriate, I guess. But I already don't remember any track besides the sad piano in the main menu.
