Basically one long boss rush, in the best way imagineable. The controls are perfectly simple and each enemy is just different enough to keep things interesting while getting exponentially harder. Tyson/Mr. Dream is legitimately one of the hardest things I've ever done, and I'm a little amazed I actually did it.
