I had the benefit of playing this remake just a few months after completing the original for the first time, so my genuine advice is: if you can get your hands on the original version, do it. I did not dislike this game - in fact, I thought the art style was lovely, and as I found the original game to be quite challenging and a bit clunky, the QoL improvements were a welcomed relief. However, that is the sole improvement I can give to it; there was something lost in translation without the original sprites and embellishments added to heavy scenes that, for me, bleached them of both the emotion and impact that makes this game memorable. It's a serviceable adaptation, pretty and fun to play, but that's all.
