[HD Remaster PS4]
I played FFX twice on PS2 back in the day (PAL version/JP International version), but never finished it. I got further than I'd ever got before on the HD Remaster, but I hit a wall with the Spectral Keeper boss after the Zanarkand Trials and I stopped playing (I was a bit disappointed to get so far and not finish it again). Then almost a year later I stumbled onto the Super Guitar Bros. cover of Sight of Spira link and that wonderful performance of that beautiful song encouraged me to try again. Today I finally managed to see the end of the story, almost 1 year after giving up and probably 20 years since first playing FFX!

I think the setting and the general vibe of the game world is excellent; helped by an exceptional soundtrack. Spira is a beautiful place and the overarching message in the game was love and positivity. A pretty likeable cast - Yuna & Tidus were a good leading couple, even if the voice acting did them no favours at times. Auron was a strong character and I liked finding out his backstory. Wakka and Lulu both had good supporting roles. I thought Kimahri was a little underdeveloped. I was rather indifferent towards Rikku. I think the biggest problem with the cast was that in too many cut-scenes it seemed like every character needed to chip in with a line of dialog when one or two would have been enough.

The battle system was excellent. I liked the Sphere Grid, though it could have been slightly more user friendly. I had no problem with the linearity and I had no desire to stray from the main path when the opportunity arose late in the game.
