This game was good, but it just didn't quite live up to my expectations. Gameplay wise, it's pretty standard fare for an 80s JRPG. Nothing too complicated, just grinding and going through dungeons and towns. Music isn't anything to write home about. Story is also pretty basic: kick all the Daimon cult generals in the nads to stop them from reviving Masakado. One thing that really impressed me about the game was just how big it was. I really wasn't expecting the game to be as long as it was. It honestly kinda wore out its welcome after a while. Although, I can't deny that I found the world very charming and humorous at times. Overall, I think this game was kinda just okay, but I'm still glad I played it. I know this series has great potential since I played Zero and really enjoyed it. I also hear the other games are a huge improvement over this one, so I look forward to playing them in the future.

I think I was a little too harsh on this review. I revisited it a bit when the fan translation came out and kinda appreciate it more. Still no Zero, but a decently good JRPG nonetheless.
