the entire time i was playing this i just couldn't help but think i could be playing literally anything else while mechanically catching and battling pokemon like i've done countless times before. to add insult to injury, by throwing away gyms and towns for boring boss fights and areas, so much of the power creep that makes pokemon fun is almost completely negated and just left me wondering wtf was the point to any of this.
