This one really tugged at the heartstrings. A weak second act with a sort of uninteresting, convoluted plot is really saved by a strong cast of characters. Nagumo was a perfect compliment to Kiryu-- the two bounced off of each other well with Nagumo's well-timed humor and zeal. Haruka was able to develop into more of an adult. Clever, considering she was barely in the game.

There were parts of the story I thought were weak. After the baby daddy reveal, I lost interest in the plot for a while. The drawn-out cutscenes designed to explain each character's backstory and motivations through dialogue were not great. I think it's a sign of good storytelling when all of the pieces click after a big reveal-- 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim delivers a master class in this.

That said, the third act was STRONG. Deep, deep hatred for the villain swelled inside of me. I loved the touching moment between Kiryu and Daigo. The final cutscene was just perfect. My only issue here is the unsatisfying end met by the aforementioned villain.
