I really love FFXIV as a game. I just wish I didn't have to play it with arsehole strangers.

Please, I'm begging you. Yes, you have 8000 hours in this game. We get it, you know literally everything there is to know. Unfortunately some of us have other things going on in our lives, and want to play this game with our partners of an evening. As soon as you start yelling that everyone except you is garbage, then you're just antagonising the party and ruining it for everyone. Queuing into an instance is a roughly 50/50 chance of having a good time - a lot of the experiences I've had with xiv have been great, a lot of the players are fun and understanding and will explain mechanics to me, a moron.
But there are also a lot of people like I've described above and they need to shoved into a locker.

feels like there's been a real uptick in shitbags like this in the past year or so. the moderation team is usually very solid but they've been struggling to keep up more and more as time goes on in a sense that suggests that squeenix really isn't giving them the financial support they need for a game that has exploded like this

Arsehole strangers is a think in every multiplayer game ever, i don't know if it's fair to deduce points for what is just humanity. That's the downside for becoming a big/popular game, impossible to mod, and more people also means more outliers in the otherwise helpfull community. But if this was a singleplayer game the story wouldn't be as big/extensive as this is and have gotten this amount of expansion content, so it's pro and cons.

I barely got any negative encounters, just 1 sentence after the dungeons like 'you guys were terrible' at most, and that was once of twice in all my hours of playtime. Might be bad luck.

I am completely uninterested in "it's a big game therefore impossible to moderate" because that's tosh
