The subgenre of furry point-and-click games inspired by film noir is a fascinating one with some entries that are both odd and unique even in the face of this common thread. Tails Noir (or The Game Formerly Known as Backbone) is onesuch game for better or worse.

I'm not one to balk at rapid tonal or genre shifts. One of the best film noirs of that classic period does it supremely. However the direction Tails Noir takes from noir fiction to Cronenbergian suspense is one that unfolds seemingly through a lack of time to let the shift grow, or lack of resources, all building up to an abrupt ending that's more frustrating than exciting.

I imagine this rebranding is an example of EggNut trying to build more on the setting, but one can never be sure.
