I've played more heinous stuff than this, it's more like... it's boring. The devs had a crystal clear idea of what the game should look like, but not really how it should be structurally, so level design seems to be a complete afterthought. It's mostly an unfocused "whatever, just shoot stuff". It's pretty amorphous.

The presentation will surely carry tho, right? Yes, for about 30 seconds. The black and white filter with the red blood makes for an interesting first impression, but it doesn't really do much with it as everything is just bland modern day assets. The screams for help of innocent civillians and the gunfire drown whatever kind of background drone ambient music the game has. Even if it didn't it's still pretty undescriptive.

The most evident use of artistic effort went into the executions where you get a closer look at more elaborate ways to put out normal people out of their misery, but as the rest of the game they are completely flavorless with the chronic lack of style so it comes off as something naked and fetishistic. Some people tried to describe this as a power fantasy for the sociopath lone wolf gun nut in you, but I don't think the gunplay is really satisfying so... even then I think it's doing a bad job.

I would say that its appealing traits are entirely surface level, but that wouldn't even describe what this game is: the main attraction is the concept, the morbid curiosity before experiencing it first-hand, magnified by its infamy and controversy upon launch. Then you actually play it and you wonder... "That's it?". It's shallow to the point where everything negative anyone can say about it is actually doing a game a favour, because it would mean that there's something worth reacting to.

Lame.
