Trek to Yomi ultimately is an average game. The design and the locales are inspiring and cool to look at but its buried under a black and white display choice that doesn't add much to the game overall. There is a sharp learning curve with the combat, luckily the respawn shrines are plentiful and the respawn time is very quick. About halfway through the game the combat flipped for me and I was able to easily dispatch waves of enemies. All the bosses except the last boss were cool but just about as easy as an average encounter. Puzzle elements felt tacked on and unnecessary in the later chapters. Beat the game in roughly 5-6 hours of playtime.
