The War of Genesis III (G3P1) (Korean title: 창세기전3) is the fifth installment in The War of Genesis series developed/published by Softmax in South Korea. Release date: 1999-12-15. Genre: single player TRPG

As a tactical role-playing game, the gameplay is similar to Disgaea and Advance Wars. In addition to the main characters in the roster, the player can add recruit-able mercenary units to each character's squad - or assign a character to a vehicle (e.g. a plane, mobile suit). Between battles, the team can visit towns and shops and plot a course for the scenario.

Where the game shines the most is in storytelling via high quality illustrations and voice acting. There are three different factions with a "timeline" (named Episode in game). These Episodes exist simultaneously and interact with each other - in order to progress through the game, the player must play all three factions.

G3P1 is generally considered to be the most complete and well-received in The War of Genesis series. Although this game was popular in Korea upon release, there were many criticisms revolving bugs, difficulty curves, and UI. In terms of lore, there were also inconsistencies and unexplained points - these can be explained by the (leaked) fact that originally The War of Genesis series was finished with first two games (I and II) but Softmax was pressured to keep releasing games to keep the company afloat. Even the release of G3P1 was evidently rushed. It was later revealed that the sequel to G3P1 named The War of Genesis 3: Part 2, which would come in Dec 2000, was originally planned to be a singular game with the 1999 release. Despite these hiccups, G3P1 turned out to be a massive success in Korea which allowed Softmax to continue pumping out games.

Nostalgic RPG that is a fond memory in my heart.
