I am going to say something very controversial that nobody likes to accept: This game is really fun and everyone else is scared to admit it.

F.E.A.R. 3 is a game that should not exist at all but here we are, F.E.A.R. is a trilogy and we can do nothing about it! The story of F.E.A.R. 2 improved over the original and had a nice ending that was a bit edgy but at least we had an ending. Now here comes F.E.A.R. 3 following that story with the returning protagonists of the original game, saving the world from Alma, jumping from action to action in order to reach their destination.

F.E.A.R. 3 is mainly a coop game that can be enjoyed in singleplayer as Pointman, the protagonist from the original. He still has his slow-mo ability and he can kick, throw grenades and such and has access to a wide selection of weapons.

The game has very solid shooting mechanics, melee moves and surprisingly, a cover mechanic that is pretty good to use. To improve your moves and abilities you can now level up during the game with each level granting you something like more health, longer slow-mo and such.

If you complete a level, you can replay it as Fettel, who works completely differently from Pointman. He can possess enemies and use their abilities and weapons, making him very fun to use. He also has a base weapon, a some sort of red energy attack that has unlimited ammo. If you can find a coop partner, both characters can be used as you wreck havoc and tear soldiers and cultists apart.

F.E.A.R. 3 is just a fun game, and it is surprisingly well made and I think, it is a much more competent shooter than F.E.A.R 2. You can pick up a copy cheaply nowadays, so give it a try. Do not believe the 2.3 score here, just have fun with the game
