I don't think everyone realizes how ingenious sonic team is. They found a winning formula with sonic generations, so they reinvented the wheel to make sonic lost world, then reinvented the wheel to make sonic boom, then they decide to go back to the sonic generations format but also decided to rush the game with sonic forces, and then they reinvented the wheel again to make sonic frontiers. Truly incredible.

@harliscool123 To be fair Sonic Boom wasn’t them; it was a western team of former Naughty Dog peeps that SEGA forced the Wii U and a holiday deadline onto. I get the sense that Iizuka and probably others at Sonic Team think pretty ill of Sonic Boom behind closed doors for the idea it was basically SEGA of America trying to be the main control behind the character right from under them. Which didn’t work out because regardless of how underpolished Frontiers is it proved that the anime stylings stick more.
