Batshit insanity on crack. Move over Doom, move over Hotline Miami, Thumper has both of you beat. This is a psychotic rhythm game that will truly torture you and your patience as a player. Sharp, intensive graphics; horrifying, ominous tones; and blaring horns and war drums pierce through the speakers and the screen. It's menacing and brutal and completely terrifying. It's also quite difficult--the reaction times required are fierce and quick, resulting in a lot of trial and error. The sweatiest palms of my life ended up resulting in my controller falling out of my hands at one point. There are a few little quirks and downsides--boss fights are a little bit funky and often require you to repeat specific attack patterns, and the timing windows required for some of the obstacles are a little bit vague. However, despite this, Thumper feels like an incredibly fair albeit menacing ordeal.
