From the creators of Zero Escape comes another highly entertaining mystery visual novel with all the twists and meta breaking flow chart navigating you'd come to expect from this team. As the sequel to AI: The Somnium Files, NirvanA Initiative does well to continue the general atmosphere of the original game while expanding on it's meta narrative, flow chart traversal, and general mechanics of the game. Somnium's of course make a return in this game, continuing to be a fun puzzle solving aspect of the game (though I still much prefer the typical escape rooms of the Zero Escape games). Characters, both new and old, continue to be well fleshed out and interesting in their own ways. The game is still very silly at times but that is pretty much part of the game's charm at this point.

If you've played the first game and enjoyed your experience, I think that you'll enjoy your time with this game. Though that said, you can play this game without having played the first game since depsite returning characters, the main plot is separate from the first game (and there is a setting to have references to the first game removed) though I would still recommend playing the first game first to really enjoy the callbacks that the sequel provides.

Likewise if you enjoyed 999 and Zero Escape, you will likely enjoy this game as it's much of the same type of thing. Though it should be noted that Somniums are very different from the escape rooms you encounter in those games so don't expect that aspect to carry over. If you didn't enjoy those games though (more specifically the general humor and atmosphere of them) then you'd best serve your time playing something else.

All in all another fun experience in the silly yet always interesting world of AI: The Somnium Files, and a successful sequel to what was also a fun game. I look forward to whatever game these guys end up making next, be it another installment of either Zero Escape or AI, or even an entirely new IP.
