As Wii Sports is the only other golfing game I have ever played, this was a new experience for me - especially considering Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee 2 is not only on the handheld PSP but obviously doesn’t utilize motion controls. The controls that are on display here are honestly nothing special and are replicated in almost every golf game, but that isn't a bad thing in a pick-up and play game like this. The best part of Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee 2, however, is the character customization. There are several characters to choose from as your preferred golfer and thanks to unlockable clothing, hair, and accessory options, you can customize your character to be as cool or as goofy as you like. Unlocking these items does take some time, as they are locked behind playing a 9-hole or 18-hole course, but seeing what you unlock at the end of your endeavors on the fairway is half the fun.

Overall, Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee 2 is a fabulous little handheld golf game that you can sink as much or as little time as you want into. There is enough on the surface to keep a novice at golf interested, but enough to keep a veteran golfer entertained.

PS: There are two Hot Shots Golf games on the PSP and while they are both good, this game has more content and is really the game to play.
