I honestly miss the days when a successful game would be followed up barely a year later with another full-length game that's basically the same but with small tweaks and refinements - unless it's a blatant cashgrab of course.

That's the case here - a fun follow-up to the original Super Bomberman, with really enjoyable multiplayer and a rather less-refined single-player experience. I marginally prefer the first game for its emphasis on different enemy behavior and movement patterns as opposed to this game's larger focus on stage gimmicks which can get rather annoying, but there is a lot to like about this game too - I think it handles the duel bosses very well, giving them a more erratic and aggressive AI which leads to some gloriously chaotic battles that end in the blink of an eye.

It's more of the first game - which isn't a bad thing!
