While the character sprites are very well animated and the music is astounding, the game itself is the weakest in the franchise. Levels require multiple playthroughs at a time to clear all of the optional objectives that you are given, and if you don't go for those objectives, there's very little to do. Not bad, but certainly a far cry from its predecessor.
