From what I’ve played of the series, the Metal Gear games can be a bitch and a half to play, but god are they wonderful experiences. It doesn't help that i was also using a partially broken PS3 controller to play it, but eh.

Once I get around to MGS3 I’ll have a properly working one. A big problem is the boss battles. They bring out real neat gimmicks and are fun for a couple of minutes, and then they go on for 15 minutes. Each one feels like the biggest bullet sponge in any game I’ve ever seen, It’s almost absurd. Besides that, I like how it continues the story of the first.

I really wish the Otacon ending of the first game was canon, since it would give him a moment of bonding, in the scene where it flashes back to Sniper Wolf, and when his Sister dies, but hey you win some you lose some. I really, really enjoy the relationship between Otacon and Snake in this game, (me being gay probably only slightly influences that), but man the scene where they just fuckin’ hug it out is fantastic, and easily the most emotional scene for me.

I wish you could play as Snake a bit more, cause Raiden is just kind of a limp noodle of a character. He never really feels like he develops much. Also holy shit was the romantic subplot with Rose just the most boring thing possible.

If you ever dare to save, you have to go through this whole soap opera, and fuckin lady i do not give a shit, the entire facility is about to blow up in literally 20 seconds if i do not do something about it, please for the love of god shut up. The ending is also a tad confusing as well. How does the real Rose kinda sorta know what the AI Rose said at the beginning of the mission? Was that the real Rose? I don't know.

Definitely on par with the first game, and the torture sequence is actually bearable this time. No spoon trick needed.
