Having the true antagonist being revealed in the last third of the game is one of my greatest pet peeves in games narratives, and it didn't help that the antagonist that /was/ revealed felt silly, and the result of very basic human error (that realistically would have been caught by peer review quite quickly). Ultimately though, this story isn't about the antagonists, it's about hope in the face of what seems insurmountable, and how the people you care about handle the immense pressure of saving the world.

The characters that have been established over that past 4 MSQs really carried the story for me, I don't care about Zenos, or Meteoin, or Fandaniel, but man I sure do care about the scions.

Gameplay-wise, it's the same fun as ever. I really appreciated the changes they made to my two main classes (WHM and BLM) and thought a lot of the dungeons/ trials were really cool, especially the last two.

The expansion still has a lot to show. These expansions continue to be updated for years, so who knows. As of now, I was disappointed by the story, but found the gameplay fun, and am already enjoying the post game.

Ultimately, I felt the story dragged-on and would have really benefited from a more developed antagonist that was established at the beginning of the expansion.

I criticize so much because I love this game and it's world, and it hurt that the supposed climax of the past 9 years fell flat for me.

Anyways, onwards and upwards. Finishing the hydaelyn/zodiark arc is probably for the best, I look forward to a fresh start, hopefully with less ascians.
