I have two main takeaways from this game. The first is that we don’t see nearly enough takes on the Metroid Prime formula, seeing as it is clearly enough to carry a game on its own. The second pertains to its humor; while it’s an misculated attempt to mimic the works of Paul Veerhoven that largely only lands as annoying, the grimness of the satire on display nonetheless managed to get under my skin. More ambition and less smugness would help the game stand out more but nonetheless, I’m just glad that somebody is working in this genre space once more.
