absolutely phenomenal game... was thinking about the rating and realized there really is nothing about this game that stands out as bad. it was just a great experience.

with all my marvel game reviews i start by prefacing that ive never seen any movies-- so this is coming from someone who is learning the plot and characters through the game. with that being said-- i absolutely love the story here, and the development for miles and peter-- well actually all the characters. i just love how vulnerable they made peter, especially one moment in the very last mission. it made his character so likable. his relationship with harry, mj, and miles were so real and satisfying to watch, even the conflicts. i cant really get into a lot of it without spoiling, so i digress.

the side mission were AWESOME. my second biggest complaint in miles morales was the fact that the side missions werent appealing, so i never wanted to do them. i dont really remember what they were, but i know that they nailed it in this game. i stopped to do any side mission i saw, and i think my completion was about 60%. i would do even more if i wasnt so busy with school and so many other games on my radar. i barely had time to sit down and play the main story, so i focused on that. but with some free time id absolutely try to get more completion w this game. loved the side stories, and the missions that were icons on the map.

the combat was as fun as ever, i felt like the battles were VERY fair. i played on amazing difficulty, and changed it to the easy one during one boss that literally had like 5 stages cause i got annoyed. that is my ONE complaint, that some bosses had a bit too many phases. i dont mind 2 or even 3, but the average boss had what felt like 5. it got to a point where it was not really satisfying to fight bosses cause i knew they wouldnt die in the first round. i just wish it wasnt this way for EVERY minor and major boss. it got really tedious and honestly unrealistic. id rather one LONG health bar than multiple phases. in terms of difficulty, they were not too easy but not too hard once you understand the moveset. a general compliment i have for spiderman games is how custom you can make the playing experience. you can really almost play however you want, utilize however many skills you want and youre still able to win. you dont really have to use a feature if you dont want you (at least on lower difficulties)

I loved some missions being for miles and some for peter, the game felt like such a fair balance of the two's stories, and even when it leaned more in one guy's direction it acknowledged it, i felt like i got a good amount of content for everyone honestly

I did want to point out though, that the addition of gliding kind of sucked. first of all, even inverting the controls made it confusing to control. when you had to follow the drones in a certain way i just could not stay in line. this aside i just hated the addition in total. its cool, but extremely unfitting for spiderman. isnt his whole thing that he gets around by web slinging? and he manages just fine? isnt that what makes him so cool? if we just gave superheroes every ability then why would we have so many. i wish it wasnt necessary for so many parts, cause spiderman being able to fly feels too powerful

the mj missions werent dreadful! i actually enjoyed them! i got a little scared when it started getting complicated, but i think they realized it works better that theyre complex than not. i absolutely hated the mj missions in 2018

absolutely blown away by this. i had kinda lost interest in spiderman, but this quickly got me back into it.
