Thoughts on RDR2 šŸ“ - HUGE SPOILERS

This will be a REALLY long journal of me playing RDR2, so if no one reads the full review, Iā€™m not blaming you. The point isn't to see people's reaction anyways it's more just to feel a bit more important after sharing your thoughts out to the world, so maybe it's just to make myself feel better.

I had a difficult time getting really into this game, in all itā€™s amazing glory. I mean I was always amazed that it was a videogame and every single time I play this game i find something new to be amazed by. I have never played a game as immersive as this.

This is the first time Iā€™m writing down my thoughts on a game during my first playthrough. But Iā€™m afraid I will miss a lot of things if I donā€™t start writing down things earlyā€¦ Iā€™m just in awe about what rockstar managed to accomplish with this world. I can see myself playing this game so much more. Iā€™m currently in the beginning of Chapter 4 and itā€™s really starting to pick up storywiseā€¦ I mean the missions have always been fun but now Iā€™m starting to get attached to the characters.

Iā€™m sure this game has gotten enough praiseā€¦ buuut not from me. I just love games. Best form of entertainment in my opinion. Even though I love films. The fact that I just today randomly stumbled upon one of the bigger towns by accident amazed me. Not sure what the name is just yet but Iā€™m sure Iā€™ll get to visit it later in the story. I also remember a desert from Online which Iā€™m not even allowed to enter yet it seems like. It seems huge though, I guess itā€™s part of a later part of the game. Itā€™s just so very likely that I managed to miss something in this game.

Just finished the poker story quest, as someone who learned playing poker from this game, I enjoyed it but I wish it were longer. It would also be cool to be able to come back there and play high stakes poker again. Itā€™s kinda plain to just bet 5 dollars per game but I can see how they wanted to limit the amount of money you could win from mini games!

Iā€™m enjoying the quests around Saint Denis lot. It reminds me of running around Novigrad and Beauclair in W3, with going around different closely packed buildings and completing storylines. The Artist Wayā€™s storyline was fun. I always enjoy exploring the interiors of the missions, it feels like you discover secret things that you arenā€™t supposed to see.

After almost 100 hours in this game, I am just now realizing how the map works. Iā€™m noticing Arthur drawing stuff he discovers which makes sense. The exploration is so good, thereā€™s tiny hidden things everywhere and itā€™s better than I realized at first. I like how the map doesnā€™t get filled up with icons like in most open world games. Whenever you spot a cool structure on the map, itā€™s usually something unique and interesting there, almost always, it really makes you feel like youā€™re discovering the world. And not just walking from place to place, I never felt so much immersion with a game before. Even something like clouds are really dynamic and immersive looking

I ended up taking a break after I came back from the island. Not sure why but I had played a lot those past days and I needed a break, I slowly feel like playing again tough.

Okay so I really felt like grinding the mainstory out when I came back, so i... did.

I went through... Arthur's diagnosis... Dutch's fall... The hope for a better future for John's family...

I might have rushed it through a little but I really thought it made sense for Arthur not to explore too much with such little time left.

I have been playing as John for a few days now and it's so amazing, I feel much more free without the pressure of doing the main quest. I have finally started getting into Hunting the legendary animals and I also JUST realized you can upgrade your satchel.

I love exploring the desert, Armadillo feels very western even though the plaugue is going around. I haven't been to the town furthest to the left yet but hopefully soon. Blackwater is really nice, probably my favourite town. I love that you get to build up Beavers hope from nothing but I'm not sure how much customizabilty there is. Hopefully some.

One thing I hated was how John looked at first, I had to change up his whole freaking style so he could look decent, I guess it makes sense that he aged but why did they make him looks so stupid.

I think currently I prefer playing as John but that might change eventually, Maybe it's just the new character that makes it feel more fun. One problem I noticed is that you can't swim at all as John which I have now read is because he couldn't back in the first game either.

I have hunted about 5 legendary animals so far... It's really cool to see the unique designs but the hunting itself is really straight forward, just inspect clues a few times and then you find it. I LOVE making the outfits and stuff, really makes it worth it and I almost don't want to hunt them all. I also worry that I missed some animals in Guarma that will be permanently missable :((, hopefully not.

I guess I just finished the epilogue, and it's time to post this note even though I might end up playing more. I'm going to keep it really short, I read up what happens in rdr1 because I have no plans on ever playing it...

It's sad, I loved this game but I'm also starting to feel done for now. I wanna do something else. Amazing game, I have already mentioned that though.
