As someone who is completely new to driving trains, I will say if you're like me, then this game isn't even worth a try because you won't even get pass of the tutorial because of how bad it guides you and how buggy it is.
bro, just start the engine, put the steering forward, turn off the handbrake (or parking brake) and increase speed. It's not difficult, you just didn't hear the tutorial voice. If you tried to start a diesel locomotive, that's another story: fuel pump, pressing the start button for 5 seconds and other stuff, but even for that they have a tutorial. It's not difficult, just pay attention to the voice, repeat the commands and in a few hours everything will be automatic.
