I wish I could agree with the internet at-large about this game, that it's all misunderstood genius. Sure, plenty of it is! It's very unique and memorable with an interestingly told story and a great protagonist. But this is still a video game, something I have to interact with, and the "game" parts of this just felt like boring nonsense to me. I'll give the sequel a shot but I'm not going to push this on my friends or anything.
