The ol' American-developed Sonic game is pretty rough. I did enjoy the darker theme and some of the music, but a lot of the issues originate from how the game plays: bad physics, awkward collision and aiming, and the big difficulty spike after Lava Powerhouse. Finished with save states, completed all the bonus stages except Nail the Crab.
