Perfect case study in a game not being revolutionary but still being a masterpiece. Pretty much all the elements you'd care about are great, except for the combat where this is one of the best 2D action games ever made. A boss rush free DLC wouldn't be compelling in almost any other Metroidvania, but here it's one of the best parts of the game.
