edit on march 26: got that 100%!
hardest part was honestly having to do paradise vr so many times bc unengaging repetitive tasks drive me insane. and i had to do it so many times to get money to unlock skills etc -__- if i dont 100% LJ it will be because im sick of it to basard death

otherwise uhhh there are a few requirements that are silly like 1 hr drone flight that. is not cumulative. i just left the game running to warm my room while i took a nap... no seriously its so dumb. i think they changed it in LJ because its no longer a separate achievement and is part of towngo, so you can do it in bursts which makes like 1000% more sense

hard parts are:
- drone races. the 100% requirement is #1 on Every race! so make sure to quit and save after each champion track or you have to redo it all over again. but honestly the hardest part was level 5 bc of the difficulty curve, and after i mastered it, the rest were easy. once u get the millenium tower / m side cafe parts down you are set. speed is priority, ignore every other aspect of drone building. also every version of the races counts for time attack, whether its practice, single race or the actual grand prix, so you dont need to worry about getting your timing in a specific race yippee
- mahjong if you dont know it... but even if you know it, the requirements are pretty demanding time-wise. you can cheese some of them by reloading and doing nine gates for yurika to auto-win one final table, make sure you have wareme and get a haneman in one fell swoop. but 5 open riichi took me a long time bc im so unlucky lol. at one time i had a hand with TWELVE possible completion tiles in early game and the AI still won by tsumo over me i was fucking speechless mannnn... but yeah its more of a time sink depending on skill / luck. im below average but i could still clear it after 2 days of mahjong craze so
- arcade games if you suck at them like me. i cheesed fighting vipers with bahn's forward+punch but it still took me about 15 minutes. and its not really cheese bc you still need to learn timing and defending, and sometimes the AI still lands the drop on you by OHKO'ing you with a charged attack or smth. fantasy zone also took me a while to perfect, mostly bc i spent so much time trying to kill second boss with the twin gun when you can just buy like 3 smart bombs and blow it tae fuck up for the requirement. once you clear two levels you hit the required 50k so thats nice! uhhh i dont remember how i passed outrun, i think some spirit possessed me. virtua fighter is ez, though i think 2.1 is easier than 2.0 (yeah there are two versions of it)
- i heard puyopuyo sucks but its not on pc remaster so luckily i dont have to know that devil. everything else is pretty doable
- out of hidden achievements, the cat one is so devious, on my first run i missed only the very first cat bc i found the drone right away... F. they removed hidden stuff like that in LJ so i guess they again realized it kinda sucked. other ones i hated were inspecting the ADDC nurse like i know this game is misogynistic even by RGG studio standards but that was just evil. and the hung jury one bc it involves my favorite character in a situation that terrifies me, though honestly the biggest difficulty of it is not getting the enemies killed ahead of the required time lol like its doable in 15 seconds

in my og review i mention that the game is bizarrely easy and i must say that even on legend its STILL easy??? only hard hitting fights were the mole and uh . amon i guess but that was mostly because i was silly and goofy and didnt realize you could break his shield lol so it just. took a very long time. of clicking. but he doesnt hit that hard and you are basically in endless EX mode for the final part of the fight so honestly. only the mole was a true pain bc i dont like dodging and i like my combos while this fucker would hit me for 25% of my health ahhsdfs love him though <3 and well if you are more patient than me you can def dodge and not get hit, i just gotta go fast

original review (completed on jan 26 2023)

graphics: they are good yay for dragon engine and new dlss etc options, i didnt have any framerate issues or anything but. i. wish i could roll back to non-remaster idk. the remastered version is SO white and washed out it took me quite a while to get used to it after y6. even after my eyes adjusted to everything being so white (there is no way to remove it as far as i can tell), it just looks washed out. i feel like some scenes with dramatic shadows and such suffered from it ._.

story: it was fun! writing is generally good, both the main cases and most of the side cases are interesting, and i like the new characters, their interactions and intertwining storylines. the villains are quite powerful and the main antagonist is memorable. but anything pertaining to women is uh... well... i guess this is a rggs game but still frustrating lol. i also feel like a lot of the game is kind of obvious and not in a "good foreshadowing storyline" way but just... kinda predictable... lowkey snoozed through some of the villains' sob stories, felt too heavy handed. extra star for handling guns properly in this game though yay, the one yakuza trope everyone hates has been defeated

gameplay: is very enjoyable, i liked wall jumping and the main two styles. everything feels fluid and responsive, unlike unfortunate test child yakuza 6. im glad i played y6 first bc then i would have hated it so much more after this lmao

i didnt like locking skills behind books/codes like dude just fucking leave them in the menu, you already need to accumulate SP to unlock them anyway. i didnt bother for most skills except re-guard and stuff that feels vital bc it was in other games and well. gotta do smth when your block gets broken

another issue is that while i like the idea of the mortal wound system, its shit that you have only one way to deal with it. and the way is very boring. you just go to the sewers to get fixed. thats it. its just a chore that takes like a minute of your time and barely serves as a hindrance if you are good enough at dodging / wall jumping / timing your EX mode or have medical kits on hand. feel like more could have been done with this

new addition i liked is the extracts, i didnt use them that much but on harder difficulties it might be more of use and it does offer some variety / flexibility. unfortunately steam version comes with dlc ones (?) that are stupid op and while you dont have to use them its just... why would you undermine the one kinda fun addition like this idgi

that being said, about difficulties - this game is piss easy on hard to the point i wonder how it plays on easy... not a single fight took me more than like 2-3 minutes. it was honestly kind of bizarre? by the time the enemy gets to their glowy deadly attacks the fight is pretty much over, you just enter glow mode yourself to avoid mortal wounds and pummel them and. yeah. and im not good at videogames so i imagine ppl who are better than me will be quite bored. the second i feel like wow its getting good! its already done. especially terrible with the final boss' first fight where i was like OMG HE CAN DO THIS TOO and he only does those moves in first half then its glow mode and oops he done... it was honestly so anticlimactic. i feel like i had more issues playing on easier difficulties in older games, like final bosses of y3 and y5... oh well

uhhh idk what else. anyway if you like yakuza games u will like this too. no karaoke though its too bad
