Club Penguin is one of those rare games that manages to do so much with so little. I'd been playing since around the time it was purchased by Disney, maybe earlier. It's incredible that the original idea was simply to have a chatroom, but it eventually turned into a bustling online community with games, secrets, collectibles, events, festivals, etc.

Until The Mouse invaded. Over the years the game stayed pretty healthy. I played the game for nearly a decade by the time I eventually said my goodbye to the original (until the end, of course.)
I don't know for sure, but I believe Disney slowly poisoned this game. They kept demanding new content, new areas, modernization, and changes that rarely benefited the community as a whole. It was sad, and I eventually said goodbye to Club Penguin and signed off because it barely resembled the old island I knew.

It was a big part of my life, and it was sad to see it slowly degrade. The fact that Rewritten exists makes me smile. A dedicated staff working of their own volition to keep the original game's spirit alive. And all for free.

I have massive amounts of respect for this game, this community, the staff who cultivated it, and the OVER TEN MILLION users. Disney should have never shut down this glorious site, but at least we got this out of it.

I don't visit often, but when I need a smile, I know I can visit this wonderful little island.

9/10. Don't @ me.
