By the time I wrapped up case 3 after years(yes, years) of trying, I was ready to accept that everyone on the internet was lying to me. I've ALWAYS heard that T&T was the best game in the trilogy, peak fiction, yadda yadda. I just wasn't seeing it.

After finally pushing through in this latest attempt: Oh yeah. This is some good shit.
I got to play as Edgeworth, Pursuit 2001 plays, and the miserable memories from cases 2 and 3 completely disappeared from my mind when I demolished Dahlia's spirit. Rubbing in her face that everything she ever did ended in failure was one of the most cathartic experiences I've had with a story driven game yet.

That said, I can't stress it enough, cases 2 and 3 are insufferable. When case 1 ends, you KNOW Dahlia's story isn't over. When Godot shows up, you KNOW there's something else going on, completely unrelated to Ron's dumbass boyfailure face or anything in case 3. It's abundantly clear the game wants to talk about something else entirely, so why are we wasting all this time? Cause it would be too short otherwise? Then maybe give us an actual good case that contributes to the overarching narrative, instead of two stupid snoozefests that add nothing to anything and only serve to bog down what is a legitimately amazing game.

Yes, AA1 and especially AA2 have standalone cases that don't necessarily add much to the overall story, but AA3 is different. We're delving into the past here, learning more about Mia and Phoenix before they became the people we met in the first game. It sets up expectations in a way that neither of the previous games managed to. But it takes two very long, very boring cases before we get to explore that any further.

CASE 3 LITERALLY SUFFERS FROM THE SONIC ADVENTURE 2 PROBLEM. HOW THE FUCK COULD ANYONE THINK FURIO TIGRE WAS PHOENIX WRIGHT. OOOH HAHA HEEHEE THEY BOTH HAVE SPIKY HAIRDOS AND BLUE SUITS LMAO GUESS THAT MAKES THEM TWINS 🤪🤪🤪
GOD.
LATER IN THE SAME GAME, EDGEWORTH GOES THROUGH HOOPS TO MAKE SURE NO ONE WOULD RECOGNIZE HIM AS A DEFENSE ATTORNEY. YET WE'RE SUPPOSED TO BELIEVE THE OLD GREY BEARDED JUDGE TOOK ONE LOOK AT FURIO POSING AS PHOENIX AND SAID "AH YES, THE EVER RELIABLE MR.WRIGHT. YOUR OPENING STATEMENT PLEASE"
and don't feed me some bullshit about "oh this series is full of wacky stuff and jumps in logic, just add that to the pile" shut up shut up shut up shut up

Also it straight up sucks that the soundtrack wasn't remastered for the DS release. AA1 and 2 both got a bit of a touch up in their respective OSTs, but AA3 still sounds like a GBA game even on the DS, which sadly makes a really good soundtrack just a bit less enjoyable.

Cases 1, 4 and 5 are perfect. 2 and 3 can go die in a fire for getting in the way of a really great story.
