"Saddler, you're small time."

An anticipation 5 years in the making to finally sit down and play this game amidst being told to by multiple people and just the general census of this being a masterpiece.

Resident Evil 4 very much delivered on the generated hype and then some, such an amazing experience with things from great atmosphere, gameplay and a pretty good narrative. However, I do think it fails in some areas...

For a 2005 game, it is pretty excusable and as to be expected that the gameplay isn't quite up to flawless standards and actually it is very good for it's time, but the jank is definitely there and it is hard not to notice. You get used to it, it almost becomes apart of you, so it becomes less irritating and you find ways to work around it, but a remake was honestly very much needed. Regardless, still super satisfying, the gunplay was great, the progression and puzzles were great, the eerie atmosphere just complemented it all.

God, the atmopshere is something I will never forget for a long time. It was fresh, an eerieness to it that I haven't quite experienced like this since maybe The Last of Us and it just felt amazing. I can't quite put my finger on what it is, but it's beautifully crafted. I became well accustomed with the Merchant, almost seeing him as a friend in the bridge between fear, the Save Room theme gave me relief, but the Merchant was always a nice friendly face to see to let you know that you're not alone. The cast of characters very much helped add to the atmosphere, Salazar was honestly a great villain I thought, even more so than Saddler and I really liked the Castle level the most out of the others (Village and The Island are insanely good in their own right.)

Narratively, it is a little rough around the edges, definitely needed the reimagining the remake gave it, but it was still solid. The gameplay is king here, but the narrative is good enough. Instantly loved Leon, Luis and pretty much all the villains the game throws at you.

In general, as if it's not already obvious and repeated by many, yeah the game is fucking great. It's definitely worth pushing through, it's not only fun, it's satisfying, exhilarating and everything else I have mentioned before, I cannot give it enough praise. Easily the pinnacle of the series.
