A great message that reminds us of the horrors of The Great War with decent story execution but less than satisfying gameplay mechanics.

I really did not enjoy the gameplay here, it was incredibly janky, buggy and unresponsive. I died more times due to jank than to getting myself killed accidentally. The game expects you to predict certain things and it's incredibly annoying, what I hated the most was digging and bandaging people as Anna but sometimes your character wouldn't even move and when picking up objects you couldn't get rid of you had to exit to the menu and sometimes try again because saving doesn't actually save anything? I honestly almost put this game down like 4 times through my playthrough.

Aside from that, the story was very melodramatic and well done but I didn't find it to really completely grab me, there were some bits I just did not care about, I think I only really cared about playing as Emil or Freddie and Karl when I got the chance, wasn't a fan of the slower sections but I liked the in the thick of it battle bits where you had to solve puzzles to move forward instead of solving shit to get into a building which is where the game I feel gets a lot of it's time padding.

A decent puzzle side scroller a tad bit overrated due to jankiness, but I can see where a lot of the praise for the narrative comes from which is just unfortunately something that didn't fully peak my interest.
