Quick Review

I went into this game with little expectations since I didn't enjoy Virtue's Last Reward much. The story is on the simpler side in comparison which I actually liked, but still had some crazy elements. It brought a decent closure to the trilogy although it left a certain plot point open ended which I didn't really mind.

I still find it annoying when characters start going on a tangent to explain abstract quantum physics theories for many minutes.

Many of the characters are returning ones which are similar to how they were portrayed in the previous games. The new characters weren't particularly interesting except for one. That said, they didn't feel as important as they should be.

The character models have improved greatly compared to VLR, but the animation still needs a lot of work to do. The backgrounds are still of mediocre quality.

The cutscenes are basically full motion ones instead of the visual novel style textbox which I thought was nice.

The puzzles seem to be easier than VLR's puzzles, but still provided a decent challenge. I like the variety here more as well.

Of the trilogy, I think 999 is the most solid one overall even though I'm not that big on it either.
