We all know about the donuts, nightmare effects, High Max, but not many people mention how one of Gate attacks halves the framerate (and that's by design, it's not a bug) and makes the game drop most of your inputs while you're jumping from one tiny platform floating over the bottomless pit to another.

To say this game hates you is an understatement
