Welp, this sure was something I suppose..

To give PS All Stars SOME credit, while it is a photo copy of Super Smash Bros, the gameplay does feel high quality and on very rare occasions, rivals that of Smash Bros.

Notice how I said just “the gameplay” in the previous part? Yeah it’s because everything else kinda sucks. For a 2012 game the fonts and menus look absolutely disgusting and mobile game tier. The character roster is very limited and missing some very popular Sony IPs, there are barely any levels and there is just not a lot to do in the game at all.

I will say that some of the stages are very good, Stowaways is one that stands out and is very memorable. The game also has this final smash replica(?) with 3 levels of it, each one leading to more accuracy and damage. This concept was nice and it’s execution wasn’t that bad. That’s really all the nice things I have to say about this game.

It’s respectable that a Vita counterpart of a PS3 game isn’t dummed down and actually runs similarly but this just wasn’t fleshed out.. the “story mode” is just a bunch of repeated levels and random opponents leading to the same final battle, they didn’t even bother adding cutscenes, most of it was still images with narration in the background. It’s pretty much on par with those random modes Smash for 3DS had except it’s the main selling point.

So yeah it’s safe to say just play smash bros instead, if you lack the hardware to do so, just play Brawlhalla then.
