Near-perfect experience that is only bogged down by a couple small immersion-breaking moments in the story and occasionally buggy gameplay. Survivor and Grounded difficulties are near impossible to play through due to how excessively glitchy the game can get at times. That being said, I still think this is the best version of the first game. 60FPS, with both the Left Behind DLC and Factions multiplayer (w/ all of its maps) included for free? Can't think of a better deal for $20.
The narrative of this game is phenomenal. One of the best stories in all of fiction, let alone all of gaming. The ending of this game has got to be one of my favorite endings in anything ever. Everything from the writing, characters, setting, combat, and mechanics are incredible. The stealth and combat was genre-defining and influenced many games today. It's very accessible to new and hardcore action-survival horror gamers alike. The overall gameplay loop only gets repetitive towards the end. The pacing is also consistent for the most part. Naughty Dog really created something special here and I would recommend this game to absolutely anyone. Despite its flaws, it's one of my favorite games of all time.
